ABOUT ME

Wow! My very own web-site! Who would have thought? Who would have thought that it would take this long!
Perhaps, I should start with a little history. My interest in photography began after a family trip to Ireland when I was 16 years old. I say 'after' the trip because, while I was on the trip, I was taking pictures with a Kodak 126 film camera, sure that my newer camera would take much better photographs than my brother's 20+ year old 35mm German range-finder camera that he had inherited from our dad. Oh, I couldn't have been more wrong! Fortunately for me, my step-father was willing to assist with knowledge and encouragement as always, and we headed down to our local Astral Photo (circa 1982) with the money that I had left over from the trip.
And that was the beginning of my poverty! I really don't want to try to calculate how much I have spent on developing and equipment. But it's been so much fun! And what a great way to remember a trip. Florida, Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Ireland, California, British Columbia, Ontario, Ontario, Ontario...boy, do we like to go to Ontario.
I worked nearly two decades in the retail photo industry for Astral Photo and Black's. There have been so many people to meet and share a love of photography with. It was only after I left for a different job industry that I decided that I wanted to be more technically proficient and I decided to take the 2 year Photogrpahy Course at Red River. I had so much fun and still get to go on 'Photo Safaris' with a couple of great friends that I met there.
After dragging my feet for quite some time, I finally joined the digital age and bought a full-frame digital SLR. (I still love my film cameras) The bulk of photos that you see on this site have been taken in the last 2 years. There are only a couple of shots from my film days, though that may change as I would love to get some more negatives and slides scanned.
I love photography and if you like something that's on the site (not the people pics!)...check with me, there just might be copies for sale. That really is the point of the site after all. If I can make some money doing something that I love, isn't that the very definition of success? Thanks for joining me, checking out the site and let me know what you think.
Hey, check it out! On August 18th I took part in The Drop Zone, a fund raiser for Easter Seals. There were 81 people who rappelled down the side of the Royal Bank Building on Portage Ave. and Fort St.Over $147,500 was raised. Thank you very much for all of the support. Maybe I'll do it again next year...
